Hi there, and welcome to Fern Scully Crochet! I’m so happy you found my little corner of Etsy.
My crochet story actually started during a really difficult time in my life. After losing my first dog, I picked up crochet as a way to keep my hands busy and give my mind somewhere else to go. I had no idea at the time just how much that little crochet hook would change my life.
Before long, crochet became my happy place. It was the one thing that could quiet my mind, ease my anxiety, and make me feel completely at peace. At a time when I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do with my life, crochet gave me something to look forward to every day.
And I completely fell in love with it. 🥰
The more I made, the more I wanted to learn. Soon I was surrounded by yarn, collecting supplies, trying new patterns, experimenting with colors, and spending pretty much every spare moment crocheting. Eventually I realized, why not share all of these weird and wonderful creations with other people?
Opening my Etsy shop was a dream come true. Now I get to spend my days doing what I love most, usually crocheting from sun up to sun down with a pile of ridiculously soft chenille yarn nearby.
I’ve always been drawn to the quirky side of things, so naturally my crochet followed right along. 👻 I especially love spooky, creepy-cute, strange, colorful, and unexpected designs. If it’s a little weird, there’s a very good chance I want to crochet it.
One of my favorite parts of creating is choosing all the little details that give each piece its personality. I love working with premium chenille yarn, playing around with unexpected color combinations, and modifying patterns to put my own spin on them.
I also hand paint many of my safety eyes with my mom, which has become such a special part of the process. ❤️ Painting them ourselves means we can experiment with colors and details and create eyes that fit the personality of each piece. One of my biggest goals is to keep learning and eventually start designing and writing my own crochet patterns, too!
More than anything, I want opening my shop to feel a little like stumbling across a treasure trove of things you don’t see everywhere else.
I hope fellow lovers of spooky, quirky, colorful, and wonderfully weird things can come here and find something that makes them smile. Whether it becomes a gift for someone you love, a new little companion, or a display piece that makes your home feel more like you, I hope it brings you the same kind of happiness that creating it brought me.
Thank you so much for being here and supporting my handmade work. Every order allows me to keep doing something that means more to me than I ever imagined it would.
Now go find yourself something weird. 👻🖤🧶
